Tutor Portal Documentation

The Tutor Portal is where Contour runs the teaching week: marking class attendance, the independent campus count, the academic board, reporting, the consult roster and tutor sit-ins. This site covers every screen, every status, and what to do when one of them surprises you.

Attendance in three sentences

Mark every student and name who taught. Campus Experience counts the room without seeing your marks. If the two sides agree the roll goes to the CRM on its own, and if they don't it comes back to you with the exact disagreement.

Start with your role

Each guide is a complete path through the portal, not a fragment.

Tutors Today, your week, marking a roll, naming who taught, fixing a roll that came back, covering, the leaderboard and your sit-ins. Campus Experience Enter what you counted in the room, chase classes with no roll. You never see the tutor's marks first, and that is the point. Announcements Reading the board and marking it read. For Team Leaders: posting, running a meeting, your team's progress. Team Leaders & Heads Compliance and on-time rates, and yesterday's worklist of what to chase, scoped by the org chart. Roster managers Consult and text-support shifts: rostering, RSVPs, sign-off and payroll hours. Academic Ops The fortnightly reconciliation exports, and correcting the roster when it names the wrong tutor. Admins Accounts and roles, assignments, the registry, health and manual jobs, system switches, sync queues and trace. Everyone What each status means, the rules and limits, what the portal calls things, and what to do when something looks wrong.

The portal at a glance

The header shows only the sections your account can open, so no two roles see quite the same portal. Every permission below is checked on the server as well as in the page.

A Team Leader or Head is not a role in the portal. Their extra reach (their team's Reporting, the Leaders' board, posting announcements, their team's sit-ins) comes from the org chart, so nobody has to be made an admin to lead a team.

What happens to a mark

Every mark takes this path. Worth reading once even if you only ever touch one step of it.

01Tutor marksOne status per student, plus who taught. Kept as a draft in the browser while you work.

02SubmittedEach student's mark is stored as its own record. The class waits on the campus count.

03Campus countsIn-person and online totals, entered blind, plus who they believe taught.

04System comparesNo human decides. The two sides either agree or they don't.

05MarkedOn a match, every student's mark is written to the CRM.

When step 04 finds a disagreement, the roll comes back to the tutor with the specific fields that differ, and Campus can amend their count. If the tutor's corrected roll still differs, it goes back to Campus for a fresh count. It stays that way until the two agree, and an admin can resolve one that is genuinely stuck.

Before you start

Wheretutor.contour.com.au. It can be installed on a phone or a Mac.

Sign inYour Contour Google account. Access is by directory entry, so a new starter has to be added before they can get in.

Your weekThe current teaching week, Monday to Sunday. Anything older is reached through Find a class, except a roll that came back to you, which stays on your list.

Time zoneEverything is Melbourne time, including week boundaries and lateness.

On a phoneEvery page works on a phone, and the roll is built for marking one-handed.

Absent studentsNever compared with the campus count. Campus can only see who turned up, not who was expected.

AskThe Ask button in the portal answers from this documentation, so it says what this site says.

Something looks wrong

Start with Troubleshooting. If your class is missing, if a roll came back and you don't know why, or if the portal says you aren't registered, the answer is probably there.
